Contamination

Richard Jackson Ltd were appointed to review a ground investigation report provided by others, propose any additional works and provide a remediation method statement and site specific hydrocarbon contamination assessment criteria at the site of a former petrol filling station at Dalston Lane, Hackney, London.

A remediation method statement was provided, detailing contamination encountered during previous works, assessing the risks posed by the contamination to receptors such as humans and the environment and providing an effective means of remediation.

Close liaison undertaken with the regulators, Hackney Borough Council, ensured the remedial works were undertaken in an appropriate manner.

We undertook a watching brief whilst a set of large underground tanks were removed and performed validation works.

When further contamination was encountered we advised on the ‘clean up’ process and performed validation to ensure compliance with the remediation method statement.
