Defects and Surveys – Fire and Flood

Richard Jackson Ltd were retained by a national firm of loss adjusters to organise emergency safety and clearance work following a severe thatch fire to this Grade II Listed dwelling.

The initial clear up operation was undertaken carefully in order to salvage as many of the owners personal possessions as possible, but in a timely manner to minimise further damage to the property as a result of exposure to the elements. Richard Jackson Ltd were further retained to produce remedial works drawings, calculations and schedules, and to oversee the required works required to reinstate the property back to its former glory.

We worked closely with local authority Listed Building Officers to ensure that as many of the original features as possible could be retained or reconstructed in a sympathetic manner and in keeping with the building’s character.

The Contractor also received a Craftsmanship award for the reconstruction works.
