We were brought in by Hopkins Homes to help them resolve a flooding problem on a proposed residential development adjacent to the River Blythe in Halesworth.
A Flood Risk Assessment previously carried out by others had concluded that the lowest part of the site was within the Floodplain and that a number of residential units would need to be removed from the proposal.
We undertook an extensive review of the data available and concluded that the Environment Agency’s position was based upon data which was correct but being used inappropriately.
We then modelled the flows of the River Blythe and were able to show that water levels in the proposed development were much lower than those previously considered.
The Environment Agency were then able to support the development proposals in full.
