Richard Jackson Ltd provided full civil engineering design services for the provision of the highway infrastructure for a new development off the A12 at Mountnessing in Essex. Pre-planning advisory services were provided including detailed Flood Risk Assessment and Traffic Assessments.

Full detailed design of the highway infrastructure was undertaken including 1.2km of new highway, a roundabout and a new integral highway bridge span approximately 15m. In preparing the FRA, detailed hydraulic and hydrological modelling was used to mimic the effects of the development on the adjacent watercourse.

Works included modelling the site both prior to development and post the introduction of the highway infrastructure, bridge and the later development. This allowed compensating volumes to be designed and agreed with the EA. The highway structure comprised an integral bridge design adopting pre-stressed pre-cast concrete beams and a reinforced concrete deck. We were retained to undertake site supervision works and to act as RE accordingly.
