The Planning Process

Richard Jackson Ltd have been involved in improvements to the Hertfordshire Golf and Country Club for many years.

The client proposed to extend the existing manor building to provide 125 bed 4 star hotel to complement the existing 18 hole championship golf course.

We provided advice on transport issues and were able to agree with Hertfordshire County Council that the impacts of the proposals were acceptable.

The scheme is located within the Green Belt and after planning authority approval the application was called in by the Secretary of State.

At the hearing we gave evidence on all the impacts of the scheme on the existing highway network and on sustainable transport specifications the scheme would provide. These included a free to use shuttle bus from the local rail station and improvements to the local footpaths.

The Inspector found that, in respect of highway and transportation issues, the application was sound.
